First Ad Campaign Project

Tuesday, August 25, 2015

On my final year of A levels. My class was assign to create an advertisement, each of the student has to choose their own cause or social issue in order to create a print ad and a short film advertisement. I personally think it was quite challenging because there was a limit of duration for the ad which can be quite tricky but at the same time I have enjoyed it.
The social issue or the cause that i have decided is about the Fashion Revolution. On 24 April 2013, 1133 people were killed and over 2500 were injured when the Rana Plaza factory complex collapsed in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the worst ever industrial disaster in the fashion and textile industry. It wasn't the first, nor was it the last but it is symptomatic of how little regard is given to the individuals who make our garments and the environment they work in.

I have decided to create some contrast between the subject and the background which are the images from the magazines. It took quite some time to create this background but at the end it was all worth it, taking a photograph of the subject was quite challenging because to start off she's a child which can be also difficult to photograph. I had to put on some make up and dress up the subject.

I think that the outcome of these two images evokes a raw and intimate feeling, and the subject's gives the viewer some sort of emotion or sympathy. I wanted to make the viewers to be curious. Find out who made their clothes from who spun the threads, to who sewed them together to who grew the cotton in the first place.

I think that Fashion Revolution is such an incredible campaign and getting involved to these kind of campaign can make difference. To get involved here a link below.
